About the Role

Our client, a fast-growing fintech organisation operating within the digital payments sector, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented POS Operations Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day operational performance of its POS business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient POS network operations across all merchant locations, including terminal deployment, maintenance, inventory management, merchant support, and resolution of operational issues. This role is critical in maintaining high service standards, minimising downtime, and ensuring seamless transaction processing across the network.

The ideal candidate will be highly organised, technically inclined, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment where operational efficiency, accuracy, and responsiveness are essential to business success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the deployment, replacement, retrieval, and maintenance of POS terminals across merchant locations.

  • Monitor POS terminal performance, transaction activity, and system uptime to ensure operational efficiency and business continuity.

  • Manage POS inventory, device allocation, logistics, and tracking processes to ensure proper accountability of company assets.

  • Provide day-to-day operational support to merchants and resolve escalated operational and technical issues in a timely manner.

  • Work closely with technical support teams, vendors, and service providers to resolve POS-related incidents and system challenges.

  • Maintain accurate documentation, reporting, and records of operational activities, merchant requests, and issue logs.

  • Track, investigate, and resolve transaction failures, settlement discrepancies, and reconciliation-related issues.

  • Support internal compliance, audit, and operational control processes in line with company policies and regulatory requirements.

  • Collaborate with sales and relationship management teams to support merchant onboarding and enhance customer experience.

  • Identify operational gaps and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, service delivery, and system performance.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Finance, or a related field.

  • Grade 12 Certificate.

  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in fintech, banking, payments, or POS operations.

  • Strong understanding of digital payment systems, POS terminal operations, and merchant support processes.

  • Experience managing operational workflows, inventory systems, and cross-functional coordination.

  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

  • Excellent communication, coordination, and stakeholder management abilities.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities, and meet strict deadlines.

  • Strong attention to detail with excellent reporting and documentation skills.

  • Experience working in a fast-paced fintech or technology-driven environment will be an added advantage.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in large-scale POS operations or payment infrastructure environments.

  • Knowledge of transaction processing, settlements, and reconciliation systems.

  • Exposure to fintech startups or high-growth digital payment companies.

  • Familiarity with operational risk management or service delivery frameworks.

  • Professional certifications in Operations, Logistics, IT, or Financial Services will be an added advantage.
