About the Company and Role:
Wagtech Zambia Ltd is seeking a detail-oriented and trustworthy Bookkeeper / Accounts Officer to manage the company’s day-to-day financial records and accounting functions. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate bookkeeping records, processing transactions, preparing financial reports, managing receivables and payables, and supporting overall financial operations of the company.
The ideal candidate should possess strong organizational skills, integrity, and the ability to work independently while maintaining confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate accounting and bookkeeping records.
- Record daily financial transactions and reconcile accounts.
- Prepare invoices, quotations, receipts, and payment vouchers.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Monitor customer payments and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Process supplier payments and maintain supplier records.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and petty cash reconciliations.
- Assist in payroll preparation and statutory payments.
- Maintain proper filing of financial documents and records.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for management.
- Support external auditors and tax consultants during audits.
- Ensure compliance with ZRA, NAPSA, NHIMA, Smart invoicing and other statutory requirements.
- Assist management with budgeting and financial planning.
- Use accounting software for transaction processing and reporting.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years experience in bookkeeping or accounting.
- Knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks, Pastel, or similar systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
- Good understanding of Zambian tax and statutory requirements.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
